Dvořák's "New World" Symphony

In his New World Symphony, Antonín Dvořák recounts his impressions of America and nods to the music he heard there, without straying too far from his Czech roots. Led by conductor Xian Zhang, the program includes two SF Symphony premieres: Nokuthula Ngwenyama’s deeply heartfelt Primal Message for percussion, harp, and strings, and Florence Price’s Piano Concerto, which deftly packs a broad emotional range into its single-movement span, featuring acclaimed jazz and classical pianist Aaron Diehl. Face masks must completely cover nose and mouth and have ear loops or similar to hold in place. Gaiters and bandanas are not acceptable. Due to the transmissibility of the Omicron variant, the SF Symphony strongly recommends that patrons wear a non-vented respirator, such as an N95, KN95, or KF94 face mask. The Symphony will have a limited number of KN95 or equivalent masks available at Davies Symphony Hall for those patrons that request them. VACCINATION POLICY Patrons 12 and older must show proof of up-to-date vaccination, including booster dose if eligible (electronic, photo, or paper copy) along with valid identification. Patrons under age 12 must show proof of up-to-date vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test (PCR test taken within 2 days of event entry or antigen [rapid] test taken within 1 day of event entry—see “Testing Requirements” below for more information) along with valid identification. “Up-to-date vaccination” is defined as two weeks after completion of the two-dose regimen of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine, or other WHO authorized COVID-19 vaccine, and one week after receiving a booster shot, for those eligible (see “Booster Eligibility” below). BOOSTER ELIGIBILITY Effective February 1, 2022, all patrons 16 and older who are eligible to have received a booster must be up-to-date vaccinated. Beginning March 1, 2022, this requirement is expanded to ages 12 and older. If eligible, booster shot must be received at least one week prior to the performance being attended. The CDC regularly updates booster eligibility. For current booster eligibility and requirements, please see the City of San Francisco’s guidance here. Patrons will be denied entry into the venue if they are eligible for a booster but did not receive it. These protocols are in accordance with policies enacted by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. The San Francisco Symphony requires up-to-date vaccination for all musicians, staff, and volunteers to participate in any Symphony-sponsored activities at Davies Symphony Hall, Zellerbach Rehearsal Hall, or any other locations of such activities. TESTING REQUIREMENTS (Patrons under age 12 only) For those patrons under age 12 who wish to show verification of a negative COVID-19 test result (PCR test taken within 2 days of event entry or antigen [rapid] test taken within 1 day of event entry), the following are acceptable as proof: a printed document (from the test provider or laboratory); or an email, text message, web page, or application (app) screen displayed on a phone or mobile device from the test provider or laboratory. The information should include person’s name, type of test performed, negative test result, and date the test was administered. For proof of a negative test, self-administered antigen testing is not acceptable at this time. Patrons may bring unopened at-home rapid tests with them to Davies Symphony Hall to take with a verified EMT present. The tickets identified in this promotion are made available through Goldstar.
